Unfortunately, as an H-4 dependent you are not ineligible to work and you seem to be informed of this.

Possible remedies:

1) Marry your pregnant girlfriend and file a relative petition and for adjustment of status. Hopefully within four to six months you will become a permanent resident. The employment authorization card should be issued before that time.

2) Apply for Change of Status to that of a student, F-1, and obtain on-campus employment. This can take several months and then you have to find an available job on campus and get hired.

3) Apply for Change of Status to a H2B classification. This too can take time and can be expensive for the employer since the employer must apply for a Temporary Labor Certification before you can file the I-129 Petition with the immigration service. In order to have a Labor Certification issued there must not be a qualified US worker who is able, willing, qualified, and available to do the temporary work.
