What happens when immigrant commits a crime here in the United States, does he get sent back to his Mexico?

It depends on the crime. In general if it is a crime for which the person is sentenced to one year or more they will be automatically put into deportation proceedings, and the same goes for drug offenses and some other crimes. In most instances the person will be arrested, jailed and then turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. At that point an attorney can request that the person be released on bond and fight the deportation but, as I stated above, whether or not the person can stay in the U.S. will depend on the crime and other circumstances.
