Legal Question in Immigration Law in Texas

Residency through Family Unity with separate household

I am 29, have a pending immigration case to become a resident through my mother, a naturalized citizen. My case is being filed through family unity laws and I am waiting for a response to an adjustment of status (I485). Am I required to remain living at the same household in order to maintain qualifications under this category? or am I able to move on my own without affecting my qualifications as long as my marital status does not change?

Re: Residency through Family Unity with separate household

You can move.

However. I ask my clients to stay put. When you move, you have to notify USCIS. If you don't the mail and the notifications will NOT be forwarded to you. They will be returned to USCIS, and they will likely close your file.

When you notify USCIS of a change of address you run the risk of slowing down the process.

If you can stick it out, where you are, you should.
