Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Texas

Is it legal to save a rented dvd to your computer to watch it and then promptly delete it? It would only be a temporary save, and if I wanted it, then I would pay for the dvd.

No. However, this is not something that any label or studio will sue you over if it is just single instance for time shifting and is promptly deleted.
