Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Texas

Music at a trade show party

We are having a party (invitation only) as part of a trade show. We would like to play music from either CDs (store-bought) or radio. Is this legal or does it need some kind of licensing?

Unless this is more than a single event, the royalty is probably not sufficient to justify calculating payment. The royalty is 8.0 cents or 1.55 cents per minute, whichever is greater. See http://www.copyright.gov/carp/m200a.html.
