Sent Certified letters, no response need help

On Mar. 17th, had kitchen fire, faulty elec. stove. when i moved in I notified Prop mngmnt of faulty stove. They didnt replace because it worked. stove caught fire. A day before a month was up they finaly brought me a stove to replace the other. they painted, cleaned the airducts, they cleaned carpet but looks like they just ran water over it. Soot was all over. They havent finished repairing. Still have outlets that shorted out not working.Sent certified letrs to ea on 4/11. No response from either parties. letr to owner still sitting in post office. He's home, so I know he got notice 2 pick up letr. Per red cross, had to toss out groceries that were in cabinets. Paid someone to clean walls, i have asthma and couldnt be smelling the smoke. had no rentrs ins. owners ins's adjuster said she would include monies to cover my damages, it was stove that caused fire.I requested on the first to deduct for the cleaning i paid, prop. mngmnt said no send invoice. paid cash 2 neighbor, that does house cleaning prof'sion'ly. in letrs, asked for temp reduction in rent,had no way to cook 4 1 mo., ws eating out. asked to see ins report. lost money day of fire and days they worked on apt. work from home. im being screwed. need help, what do i do?

You are right, you are being screwed.

Document EVERYTHING that has happened. Deduct the costs to you, including cleaning, groceries etc from the rent. Itemize your costs. Contact the insurance company -- find out if they have paid the landlord yet.

You can get out of this lease immediately, if it is no longer habitable. Notify him appropriately.

Notify codes department of the situation.

Look on the Attorney General website under landlord/tenant information.
