Rental Contract

I recently moved from an apartment to a house I purchased. I broke my lease when I moved out of the apartment. I paid the reletting charge they asked for upfront I also provided the 60 day notice in writing. I later received a bill for 5k for future rent owed. I went by the apartment that I lived in and it is already rented 1 month after moving out. Is there anything that I can do in this situation?

Respond to the letter/bill with a letter sent CMRRR advising the landlord that you contest the future rent owed, as you have met the current tenants of your apartment.
