Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Texas

Municipal Court

I would like to find out if it is legal for my Municipal Court Judge to have me hold individuals that I arrest on class c Municipal warrants for hours making them make phone calls until they get the money in to post bond or pay the fine.

Also can he have me call him every time I arrest someone so that he can hold an indegency hearing. Even if the person was picked up at work and the warrant is not a capias.

On the surface of things, what your judge is doing seems inappropriate and probably unconstitutional, but you'll really have to check the local court rules and practice and then confer with an attorney discreetly. It sounds like an abuse of power.
