wrongful death

Is there a cap on wrongful death in State of Texas in terms of settlement. A friend of mine Mother wrongfully passed in a retirement home. the attorney he hired stated there is a cap on Wrongful Death settlement that was passed in State of Texas in 2003. Is that correct?

Texas has a cap for wrongful death in health care liability claims of about $1.5 million. However, Texas also has general caps on noneconomic damages in health care liability claims of $250,000 in most cases.

Depending on what happened the case you describe may or may not be capped. If it is not a health care liability claim, then there should be no cap.
