Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

if a criminal investigator wants me to come up to the police department to answer some questions and fill out a statement and he gives me his word that he will not arrest me should i believe him?

i was involved in an accident where i slid into the back of him..he ran and i ran cops towed my car away and are now looking for me..i ran because i was scared for i had a suspended liscence and made a wrong choice and dont know what to do about it
