Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

I am helping another person letting him stay at my home while in the "Abuse Spouse Protection Program" in Texas. I am to be compensated for food/shelter I provide this person, but how do I protect myself from any legal suits he may bring against me if my pet bites this person or if this person hurts himself while staying at my home, i.e., slips, falls, etc.? Should I have him sign a General Release from where I state while he stays at my home he cannot sue me if my pet hurts him or he falls or injures himself?

You need homeowner's insurance with liability coverage. Explain your concerns to your insurance agent/broker.

For possible release, you need to speak with an attorney b/c releases must have certain requirements to be valid.
