Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

I live in texas and would like to know if a defendant has caused personal injury can I put a lien on a defendant's property if I can not collect it from the insurance company or if my attorney can't get the policy limits requested. Can I personally go after the defendant if he/she owns peoperty, or a business etc? If so, will I need a judgement to do so or sue the person in court?

In a personal injury case, you will need to file suit and obtain a judgment in your favor before you can place a lien even on non-exempt property. While the suit is pending, you may be able to ask the court to enjoin any transfers of non-exempt property. See an attorney.
