Legal Question in Product Liability in Texas

Question about Large Corporation and dissatisfied consumers?

A company (very large big computer buisness) has knowingly sold defective television sets. These sets however seem to stop working after a year. Their online forum shows at least 24 people that I know of who bought the TV and had the same breakdown. (however I've only gotten through half the posts and there seems to be many more towards the end.) Many broke down right after the warrenty expired and those are just out of luck - some right before the warrenty expired. I was sold the TV long after the company was aware that the product would not work after a year - can a company knowingly sell you a defective product? (Many of the other consumers also were sold them after the complaints began rolling in.) Thier solution was to send out a refurbished set (same product - and they also been breaking down in the same manner and has no existing warrenty) so the company is asking for $213 to extend warrenties for the year which the consumer must pay because the alternative it to just wait for the TV to break down, throw it in the trash and go spend another $1500 on a new set. (none of these TVs are older than one year.)

sounds like a good multi-plaintiff lawsuit. Class actions are hard to do now.
