Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Can I get a copy of a Will?

I live in Texas. In 1983 my mother-in-law (at the time) died, leaving my then 3 year old son a trust fund. She left her daughter as executor. I have never seen or heard of the terms and conditions of the trust fund, but I recall that he was supposed to get at least a portion of it at 18. He is now 19, will be 20 in April, and has not received anything yet. When I approached my former father-in-law about it, he said because my current husband adopted my son, he was no longer eligible for the trust fund. There have been 2 other grandchildren born since her death, and he said the money will go to them now.

I would like to get a copy of the Will/Trust information so I can see what the terms really were. Is that possible, and is what he is saying legal? What are my son's rights?

The will would be public record in the county where it was probated. Without the trust language, no one can tell you what is, or is not leagl. You would need to get a copy of the will and then probably hire a competent probate attorney to settle the trust. Good luck.
