Hi, I was just informed that my nephew whom I am his legal guardian has just been left a large sm of money do to the death of his grat grandmother. It will be held in a trust untill he reaches the age 35. My question is as his legal guardian (both of his parents deceased) do I have any legal right

to his trust as far as raising him he is 12 yrs old and for his future schooling? thank you Pam

As the legal guardian of the beneficiary of that trust, you should have a right to get a copy of the trust instrument as well as periodic accountings from the trustee. You should contact the attorney who is handling the great grandmother's estate. If the trust was created by great grandmother's will, then you can obtain a copy of her will from the court where her will was probated.

It is likely that the trust instrument (or will) provides for distributions to your nephew, through you, as the guardian, for his needs. You will have to see the document which created the trust to find out. (Will or trust agreement)

You will probably have regular communications with the trustee from now until your nephew turns 18.
