Legal Question in Workers Comp in Texas

My husband lost 2 fingers at work

They are not sure what made the beam fall. His company is out of Texas but the accident occured on a lease in New Mexico. Which laws apply as far as Workman's Comp. Texas or New Mexico. From what has been explained to me he will only recieve approx 20,000 for his permanent loss of pointing and middle finger on left hand. Is this fair?? Do we need a lawyer?

Re: My husband lost 2 fingers at work

probably New Mexico..if in Texas all he gets is medical for life for the injury plus weekly checks up to $674 a week or 70% of weekly pay whichever is less for 104 weeks if not able to work...or impaired...but call a New Mexico lawyer...We represent Texas comp and there is no settlement for $20,000 or anything...
