Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in United Kingdom

Husbands debts

If my husband died before he had

repaid credit card & personal unsecured

loan, both solely in his name, would I

become liable for his debts? The house

we live in is mine.

Re: Husbands debts

No, you would not be liable as his wife but his estate would be liable for payment of debts. It is usual for a wife to become the personal representative of her husband's estate and in that role you would have to pay off the debts from any money he has before you inherit his assets.
