Are creditors allowed to contact and harass you at work?

Not if you tell them not to contact you at work. The best thing is to write your creditors a letter and tell them that they may only contact you by mail. Then they are not allowed to call you at all. If they do call, you can sue them for violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
