Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah

Employer liabilty on cell phones.

My employer asked that I get three cell phones on my nextel plan. He then stopped payment on the checks to pay for the services and phones. I have not been paid my payroll for over 30 days and have not been paid the outstanding cell phone bill. The cell phones have been disconnected which affected my wifes job search and my own considering I have been laid off with no last check.

Re: Employer liabilty on cell phones.

I assume you want to get reimbursed for the cell phone and your wages. First make a claim through Utah Employment Security. You can also file suit against him personally and as a business, either in small claims court or District Court. If he files bankruptcy you can file a claim in bankruptcy court. Unpaid wages are a priority claim.
