Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah

vehicle ownership

I took out a loan for my now ex-

girlfriend so she could buy a car.

The loan is in my name but the title

is in both of our names with a ''OR.''

Now she is talking about leaving

the state and I'm afraid she will

stop making the payments. Can

she just stop making payments and

destroy my credit? If she leaves

the state can i report it as stolen?

What do i do? Do I have any rights

in this situation?

Thank you,

Re: vehicle ownership

If she stops making payments, you will have to continue to make them or you will take the hit on your credit, and will probably get sued for any deficient payments.

You can sue her to either recover the car, force her to refinance it, or to restrict her from taking the car from the state.
