Legal Question in Criminal Law in Utah

The 72 hour hold federal law
I was held 4 days never saw a judge.Released on bond.4 months later they send a letter wanting me to appear on federal possession charges. I was not pulled over or in my car,i was out of gas on the freeway.Did not give permission to search my vehicle.The public def has not bothered to see lab reports,yet wants me to pleed to a misdimeanor of which i would serve up to a year.No measurable amount if any at all.
