Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

Can she do this?

My exwife is talking about pulling my 15 year old son out of school and home schooling him. There is no need for this, he just is lazy and thinks that because his mom was home schooled he needs to be. I have told her that I do not think it's a good idea, and that I am against it. Can she pull him out without my concent? She is the type to just not tell me about it and do it anyway. Is there something I can do to protect myself?

Re: Can she do this?

Assuming that you have joint legal custody, you can require your wife to attend mediation to resolve your disagreement. However, you may want to consider allowing your son to attend home schooling. There are standards that need to be met, and perhaps more attention may help him. Talk to his teachers and counselors. If he has not been in counseling, take him. Do what ever you can to assist your son to cope with his challenges - and some kids have serious challenges, even if their parents do not perceive them.

I am not sure what you want to be protected from.
