Legal Question in Family Law in Utah

I need to take my son out of the state, his father and i are not together. Do i need his permission? if not then do i just inform him of what i am doing? nothing is filed witht he courts.

You should give the father notice of your intent to move, as well as your new address, as soon as you can. The father has a right to object. You may not need permission so long as you give the father reasonable notice and if the father does not object. If the father objects he will have to file a request with the court to keep the child here, or enact some kind of visitation schedule. You may want to offer a visitation schedule such as the one found in the utah code at section 30-3-37.
