Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Utah

My power got shut off because the people whom lived there before didn't turn it off. So when I tried to put it in my Name the power company wouldn't do it. They need to talk to the landlord whom is not taking care of this problem. So I have since had to stay at a hotel till this is resolved. My question is would I be able to move and break my lease and if not should I be able to deduct my rent for every day that I can't live there due to my power problem

Notify the landlord that the problem must be resolved within xx days or you will find another property to rent. Whether or not you can deduct the cost of the motel depends on the language in the lease agreement.
