Legal Question in Family Law in Vermont

Parental/Custody rights questions

I have some basic questions about my rights as a parent to take custody of my children, I am the father.

My ex wife was forced in to re-hab about a year ago, by social services because she was caught stealing from freinds and family to support her habit. No one pressed charges, but social services found out and told her she had to go in to re-hab. Her parents took temporary custody.

Recently she pled guilty to violation of a relief of abuse order placed on her by her new husband. She got a years probation with heavy stipulations, the relief of abuse order was for child abuse, assaulting her husband, and drug abuse.

I have taken temporary custody. She applied to the court to get the children back claiming a lot of lies about me, she was turned down.

My question is what steps do i take now? She has refused to provide me any of the childrens clothing, toys, or anything!

Thanks

Re: Parental/Custody rights questions

You need to go back to the court that issued your original custody order and seek to have it modified. This can end up being costly and could take some time, but well worth it. Good luck.
