Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Virginia
we have just received a warrant in detinue for a rental tv we have paid on since sept 2008 around $4000.00 we are contemplating bankruptcy can we use the debt of the tv on a homestead exemption claim or do we have to pay for the tv or surrender the tv if the court rules against us..

Hello:
Exemptions are separate. It will depend on whether the Trustee wants you to return it or not. However, I would try to get it in one of the many exemptions available.
