Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia

I have my own photography business. I had a contracted wedding I was shooting and needed a little extra help. I asked a friend of mine to help me. I paid her 180.00 for the evening. I did not have a "written" work for hire contract with her but do have many emails where we discussed what she would be doing and the price. She used both her camera and my own camera. Since the wedding she contacted the bride asking her questions and has taken many of the photographs she took and have edited them and put them on her business website. She has not gotten permission from the bride to post any pictures of them at all! Is there anything I can do?

So, after all these email and discussions, who was to own

the photos (with the corollary right to use them as the owner

sees fit)? Does the answer in any way depend upon whose camera was

used? Or did your contract with the bride give her exclusive rights to

the pictures?

Until these issues are addressed, I don't believe that your inquiry can be

answered.
