Quiting My job safe

My jobs loss prevention investigated and verbally cleared me of a product loss. This was only after badgering me about the subject telling me i was involved and harassing me with the thought of police. Now i don't feel safe with this company and want to quit immediately. with out a written for of clearing am i at risk of them coming at me about the loss again? Should i go back to work tonight? also does this qualify for defamation of character, they really tried incriminate me for something i had nothing to do with?

Re: Quiting My job safe

I do not entirely understand what you are describing.

I think that if you don't show up, they might think that you are running away from something.

On the other hand, yes, they might continue to hassle you, too.

I think you should look for another job before you quit this one, as a pratical matter.

But when you leave, you should go to your boss and explain why. Don't just "disappear" because they could think you are hiding and running away.

Yes, they can come after you about it, whether you stay or whether you go.

It is not defamation of character or the like *IF* they have a reasonable reason for believing you MIGHT have taken something or whatever it is.

They are entitled to ASK and try to ivnestigate to find out what is going on.

However, if they continue to accuse you after they should know that you did not do it, then it can turn into slander or harassment or defamation of character if they go too far. They have a right to try to FIND OUT what the truth is, but not to make false accusations.

If you are that upset, I think you should talk to your boss about the fact that you do not feel comfortable. That way they will believe that YOU BELIEVE you are innocent.
