Legal Question in Construction Law in Virginia

Paved parking lot without any safeguard blocking driveways

I drive into a parking lot to get gas (Gas tanks lights are on..for businesss). The parking lot is paved but you cannot tell it at night time about 8:45 P.M. There is no cones, no work horses, no buckets to block the driveways. I drive into the lot before I realized it was not long paved. The woman takes my license number from my vehicle and talks angry/upset (the people who did the paving). She claims she took my license number to hold me responsible for tracks! They were neglectful for not blocking the driveways. No one can see a fine line they laid down at night time. Who is responsible? The business man who failed to block the driveway or I who never knew it was paved till I drive onto it to get gas? And do the other woman who is with the paving business have the right to get my license number and intimidate me?

Re: Paved parking lot without any safeguard blocking driveways

Anyone can record a license plate number from the front or rear of a vehicle for whatever purpose. However, I see no liability on your part arising from this incident.

Go ahead and get some sleep.(It's now nearing midnight EDT.)
