Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia

Canceling Hotel Reservation made in error

I made a hotel reservation for non-refundable stay on hotel website by mistake. 2 hours later I realized the mistake and called hotel to cancel but they would not refund charge. Is this legal? Would this come under the ''3 day cooling off period''. Seeem excessive to pay for full stay under this situation

You need to make written objection to the credit card issuer and formally

"place in contest" this mistaken charge which the hotel apparently refuses to correct.

You don't say how this was a mistake. If on a credit card, you might attempt to charge it back if truly a mistake. I am not aware of any cooling off period for this transaction. The contract terms would control.
