Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia

remodeling contractor shoddy work

Recently hired a contractor to do several remodeling projects in my house. Contract written for labor to install products I purchased. On his advice I over ordered some materials and he was adimant to refund overages. His crew also did some very shoddy work which did not meet my satisfaction. Had him look at his crews work and he agreed to some repairs but not to the major problems. He told me that he has the right to come back to do some of the repairs. I do not want him back in my house to destroy more than he already has. He was paid one half up front and has only competed about half of the work to be done as well as screwing up what he says has been completed. Do I have the right to deny him entry and refuse to pay him the remaining amount?

More information would be required to answer this question, which likely would include a review of the contract

which was signed for the work.
