Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Someone used my personal information to open up credit cards in my name. Now the credit card company is saying im responsible before the police investigation is even over and threatening judgement against me. Is there any legal recourse against them? I never signed any thing and they evidently don't check things out too thoroughly.

all allegations as to your alleged liability for these charges.
