Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

small claims

i had a small claims court date that i failed because the person paid me the amt he owed me...i was unable to get through to the court the morning we were to be heard. the case was '' non suited'' . The check I was given by the person i was sueing turned out to be a stop payment, so i never got the money he owed me. I have very clear documentation of his debt to me. Can I ask the court to hear this case again?

Re: small claims

Yes, whenever a case is nonsuited in the Commonwealth, the plaintiff has one additional opportunity to refile it(within the applicable statute of limitations).
