Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

I'm unsure on what to do or what type of case this would be. My ex wife had access to an open line of credit of $8000 and I was the primary account holder and she was the co. Being that she had access she took the money and the credit bureau wanted me to pay it back. I want to sue my ex for the full amount. This has caused my credit to plunge and my family are unable to get approved for our home loan. I don't know who to talk to or where to begin.
