Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

i had work done to an automobile, he has told me he has went and got a mechanics lien against the car, but i've never recieved any summons to appear before a judge, can he do this with out a judge ment?

Sure, but its validity would likely have to be proved in court. I assume he won't let you get the car? Or that you are contesting the repairs done or not done and/or the bill? If he won't give you the car or you can't pick it up with the key on your own, you might send him a letter and demand the car and also a copy of the lien he allegedly filed. Or you may have to file your own suit to get relief (return of the car and/or monetary relief). Consulting a lawyer may be a good idea also. Good luck.
