Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
If while intoxicated you accuse a party of a crime and a police report is filed, but then once sober you are informed that the crime was not committed, will the accuser be charged with filing a false police report even though at the time they truly believed what they were reporting was to be true?

That would most likely be up to the cops and the local prosecutor assigned to
the matter.
