Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Paint Ball Guns

My two sons were in the city park. It is undeveloped and unused except by BMX bike types. They were shooting paint ball guns only at each other. Neighbor called the police, who told them they could not do that and next time they would have to go to court. Can't find any laws in Virginia prohibiting paint ball gun use. Were the police correct, or did they simply react to a unstable meighbor (who has had many altercations with the police)? My sons or I have never had any legal/criminal problems. Also, there wasn't anyone else in park woods at that time. Is there a law they broke?

Re: Paint Ball Guns

You should check with city officials to see whether there are local ordinances prohibiting

paint ball gunnery in city parks. Such prohibited use, if there be such, would more than likely be a matter of local rather than state law.
