petty larceny

what evidence is needed to obtain a warrant for this..just hearsay? and if im found not guilty ''because I didnt do this!'' can a defamation of character lawsuit be filed? or filing a false police report??

The evidence needed for this criminal warrant is what the local magistrate considers to be sufficient to meet the legal requirements of "probable cause" to believe that the crime of petty larceny was committed by the person named in the warrant.

It's unlikely that a person so-charged would have any basis for the suits mentioned.
