Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My 18 year old child told me that he was quitting school and moving in with his 15 year old girlfriend and her parents because he didn't like the rules at our house. After not hearing from him for nearly 3 months he has recently phoned us demanding that we pay something to this other family for him staying there. He has also decided to return to school and wants us to cover all those expenses as well. He does not wish to keep in touch with us and won't come home either - he says he just wants money. Are we the parents still obligated to financially support him if he chose to move out in the first place?

Yes, until he's age 19 or graduates from high school, whichever occurs first (but

arguably only if he remains in your home and subject to your house rules).
