Re: Domestic Law

If a spouse has been convicted of some criminal offense involving domestic abuse, the court will usually

order the offender to attend and complete classes in anger mangement as part of his or her sentence.

There is no process, however, for committing a person "for anger management or other addictions"(sic).

A mentally ill person may be formally committed under the state's civil committment laws to the local "psych" ward or even to a hosital designed to treat the mentally ill such as Western State upon a proper finding by a judge or magistrate that such a person has a mental defect or disease and represents a danger to himself or others. Such a person, however, could (and would) not be "committed" to one of the aforedescribed facilities merely for anger management.
