Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Grandchid was taken to Virginia, I filed for custody in Ohio.

My grandchild's aunt took her to Virginia from Ohio. The child's mother signed a notarized authorization for the move and custody. My grandchild does not want to be there but to be with me and the rest of her family in Ohio. I have filed for custody in Ohio. Do I need an attorney in Virginia also? The child is 12 and has only seen the aunt only on vacations.

You are likely to require the services of a Virginia attorney only in the event that the matter becomes litigated in one of Virginia's courts.

(Incidentally, the notarized authorization from the mother means virtually nothing in legal terms. A transfer of legal custody of a child cannot be accomplished in this manner.)
