Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

ex parte PPO

My wife and I had an altercation a week ago. I pushed her, she feel down, btw she is pregnant. SHe called the police they came, arrested me. I received an EPO for 72 hours up until the arraignment. I get to the arraignment, court date is set for AUG 1, my wife has another ex parte PPO taken out that is due to expire 30MAY08, we both have to be in court on that date. I want to work this out and get my anger issues resolved so we can have a family together and get along well raising healthy, happy children. I have signed up for 2 anger management classes, talking to a chaplain and pyschiatrist, I have also arranged for my wife and I to have 6 marriage counseling sessions( if she is willing after the court date). Is there anything else I can do? I want so badly to prove to her I can keep this anger thing under control, so she is not fearful of me. What am I to expect on 30MAY08 for the PPO hearing? Do I need a lawyer for this hearing or just for the actual domestic hearing on 01AUG? I am so nervous about this. Also on the ex parte she put down other incidents that have occured in the past. I just want to get the help I need, our baby is due 10NOV08 and I dont want it coming into a mess like this and having seperated parents.

Re: ex parte PPO

The judge will likely continue the ex parte PPO on May 30, 2008 to your trial date on August 1, 2008,

whether or not you have an attorney there representing you on the May 30th date.

Nevertheless, you should definitely retain counsel

to represent you on the domestic violence charge

which is apparently scheduled for trial on August 1, 2008, as soon as it can be arranged.
