Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

So brother in law cosigned on a loan for my truck. Brother in law is no longer a "brother in law" and is now missing in action.......My truck is almost paid off (3 months left :), and I have been riding on expired tags since APRIL !!!! When I went to DMV they informed about the property tax bill that has not been paid and is now wayyyy past due ($800) and I can't get my registration and tags renewed until all that is paid. Well took me about 6 months to save that and now they(DMV) are saying that I am still UNABLE to renew everything because my MIA missing X brother in law's liscense is suspened with 2 DUI's so therefore screw me and my 5 yrs paying everything! What can I do I thought about selling it but I cant he is listed as primary! This junk is unbelievable. Any advice....hmmm.

Pay off the rest of what's still owed on the truck and then request that the loan company release any lien it may have recorded against the truck's

title with the DMV and they then should be able to renew the registration and tags on the vehicle irrespective of your brother in law's suspended status. (All of this assumes that your brother in law's name is

only on the loan and not on the title.)
