Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Me and my girlfriend moved into a house that was owned by her great grandmother... we each payed $800.00 to move in there was no lease b/c her family owned the property... she broke up with me and kicked me out a few days after we moved in. I asked for only a small part of the money back and she refused. so am i screwed or can i get my money back. i have witnesses to the fact that i paid this money and what it was for.

Paid the money for what (if in fact there was no lease) and under what terms and conditions?

(I'd give you close to a ZERO chance of ever recovering even a small part of these funds which you apparently have already asked for to no avail.)
