Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

I purchased a house with my ex-wife (after divorce) and he house is valued less now than when we bought it. She kicked me out 2 years ago, but now wants me to pay 1/2 the mortgage. Can she do that?

No, your former wife cannot force you to pay your share of the mortgage, but the lender may be able to if no one pays it. And, yes, until the property is foreclosed or otherwise sold, you have as much right to occupy it as your former spouse.
