Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Removal of someone items stored at my resident

I am storing an exfriend items at my house. I sent him an email asking to submit payment for this storage. He replied with an email that he would send me a check asap. Now that friend is telling me that he will not pay me. Can I legally remove the items? How can I? What should I do if I recieve no payment in 30days in the state of VA.

Re: Removal of someone items stored at my resident

Send written notice to this friend that he has 30 days (from date of letter) to pick up these items of personal property and pay the storage fee requested or they will be disposed of as you see fit.
