how does a misdemeanor affect the proccess of naturalisation

It depends on the crime, time frame when the case was disposed of and sometimes, on the state the crime was committed and naturalization is to be processed. In other words, need more information in order to answer your question.

If the misdemeanor involved what immigration authorities consider a so-called crime of moral turpitude, e.g., lying, cheating, or stealing, your conviction of such a crime could prove a bar to naturalization.
