i bought a dog for me and my girlfriend. it was paid on my credit card. we split and i kept the dog. i gave her the dog back because she said she would try to patch things up which i did not believe. the dog is in her possession. how do i get him back?

You can't get this dog back if in fact you gave it to this girlfriend as a gift.

However, if you intended no gift but rather meant to retain what you believe was your right to sole ownership of this dog and merely intended to loan

her the animal in the hope that this might facilitate the repair of your relationship

with her, then you could file what's called a warrant in detinue in your

local general district court for the return of your personal property (the dog) or

if such is not possible, then in the alternative you could request that a judgment

be entered against the girlfriend for its fair market value.
