Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

law on neighbor cuting your grass between proptery line

My neighbor refuses to stop cutting my grass between the proptery line even though I have asked him not to. Is there such a law that he can claim my small peice of proptery after cutting the grass for ten or more years?

What you are asking about is adverse possession, which has to be open and notorious and adverse to the interests of the owner. If you talk to him and consent to it, it appears to me it fails the test of adverse possession.

If you want to be absolutely sure of protecting your property line, put up a fence.

You could file an injunction suit in Circuit Court to get him ordered to stop.

Or maybe, if he has that much extra energy, you could ask him to come over and cut my grass.
