Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

My husband recently received a speeding ticket in Amherst Co in VA while on our vacation. We live 6 hrs away from this place. It was a work zone and he was obeying the speed limit until he started downhill (we were in the mountains) and didn't realize how much his speed increased. The deputy was waiting at the bottom of the hill. Since VA doesn't practice the Prayer for Judgement, is there anything that he can do? He is a firefighter and EMT and his first speeding ticket that he's had since getting his license in 1995 and he doesn't want this go on his licence due to affecting his job.

There are several things you can do to prepare for a hearing on a speeding ticket. The first of which being to consult an attorney. Many times an attorney can appear on your husband's behalf without him having to make the trip to Amherst - it depends on what he is charged with. If you consult with an attorney, they will be able to give you a better idea.
